Things No One Tells You About Being A Mum

Being a mum for the first time is an adventure to say the very least! In this blog post, we are going to take a look at some of the things no one tells you about being a mum for the first time so that you can be more prepared.

You’re going to make mistakes, and that is okay

There is only one place to begin, and this is with mistakes. You are going to make them. You are going to leave the house without the essential things for your baby. You are going to feel like you’re doing everything wrong at some points. In fact, you will probably make a lot of them. But the good news is that it is okay! Everyone makes mistakes in all walks of life, and most certainly when it comes to being a mum, especially for the first time. After all, there is no set list of rules that you can follow in order to become the perfect mum. You are going to be learning on the job, and so you need to embrace it.

People will get annoyed that you did not tell them about the birth of your baby first

Weddings, parties, births… everyone wants to be the first to know! There is a way around this, though. This is to send a birth announcement card. Baby announcement cards represent a beautiful gesture that will greatly be appreciated by those who are close to you. You would be shocked by how much something like this will mean to your family or one of your close friends.

Nowadays, we live in the Facebook age! Everything goes on social media; from what we had for dinner, to whom we bumped into at the supermarket, to what we are watching on television. Do you really want the birth of your baby to be another Facebook announcement?  Of course, there is nothing wrong with posting news about your baby on your social media accounts. But, those who are close to you will no doubt appreciate the personal touch of a baby announcement card. They will love the fact that you have gone to the effort to let them know personally that your beautiful baby has arrived, rather than having to see it on a generic Facebook post that everyone can see, even Sarah who you have not seen since you sat next to her in history class in year seven or that random person you added by mistake after a few too many! Something so special deserves to be announced in a unique and memorable way, which is why birth announcement cards are definitely worth considering.

You will have a new idea of holiday

In the past, going on holiday might have meant a luxury beach break or going on a weekend of partying with your friends. Nowadays, simply going to the salon or buying a face mask to use at home and having a glass of wine will be as therapeutic as going to the Bahamas. In fact, the thought of trying to take your baby to the Bahamas will probably cause even more stress!

You will sympathise with parents

It is likely that we have all been there before; giving a parent a dirty look because they have been ‘unable’ to get their baby under control, whether it is in a restaurant, supermarket, or on a plane. Well, now you will have a new found sense of sympathy and appreciation for parents that find themselves in this sort of position. Rather than giving them a dirty look, you will exchange those understanding looks that often come with a shrug of the shoulders, as if to say “what can you do” – it is a bond.

All in all, there is no denying that being a mum for the first time can be a journey. There are going to be ups and there are going to be downs, and there are going to be a lot of unexpected surprises along the way too. You can never be fully prepared for everything that motherhood brings your way. However, we do hope that this blog post has helped you to be a bit more prepared.
