‘So Shape’ are a French company, started by two friends. The friends wanted to make the slimming process simple so they designed ‘Smart Meals’. The Smart Meals were low calorie while providing all the necessary nutrients and vitamins.
I have tried various diets over the years but always struggled to stick with them and would inevitably end up putting on more weight. This year has been quite a tough one for me and I have often found solace in comfort eating. Fatty, unhealthy food might taste nice at the time, but the weight I was gaining wasn’t very nice. I needed something to kick-start my weight loss journey, so when So Shape got in touch and asked if I would like to work with them I didn’t hesitate.
How does So Shape work?
So Shape is a lot different to any diet you might have heard about before. It is different in that there are three challenges you can choose from, depending on your own personal needs and requirements. The challenges last for 5, 14, or 28 days.
‘Smart Meals’ replace your breakfast and evening meal. Don’t worry about getting fed up of having the same thing over and over each day because there are nineteen different Smart Meal flavours to choose from. And let me tell you, some of the flavours are divine! The So Shape method is actually really simple and the same for each of the challenges:
- Eat a Smart Meal for breakfast
- Enjoy a totally free lunch
- Have another Smart Meal in the evening

There is no need to worry about feeling hungry after your Smart Meal because So Shape has put together a list of ‘open foods’ you can eat to keep you going until your next meal. Some of these foods include:

- White fish
- Chicken breast
There are three different challenges to choose from depending on your own personal needs.
Reboot – 5 day challenge
This challenge is perfect if you have overindulged and are feeling a little sluggish. It will make you feel lighter, give you more energy and stimulate your metabolism. You may even lose a couple of pounds too!

My So Shape experience
When So Shape asked what challenge I wanted to take on, the only option for me was the 28 day challenge. I knew I could lose quite a few pounds by taking on this challenge and that I would be motivated to continue eating healthier if I saw some immediate results.
The thought of taking on the challenge for 28 days might seem quite intimidating, especially if you have a habit of eating unhealthily. To keep myself motivated and so I didn’t lose focus I set myself some small goals and targets. To begin with, I took it meal by meal and day by day. My plan from the beginning was to focus on getting to the 5 day mark, then the 14 day mark, and then ultimately the 28 day mark, as per each So Shape challenge.
Days 1 – 5
The first couple of days on the challenge I found I had a headache and was craving sugar. I expected this though and the headaches and sugar cravings, though present, didn’t really cause me any problems. I think it was more to do with the fact that my usual diet included way too much sugar so my body was a little shocked.
My need for sugar dwindled within a couple of days and if I did find I needed something sweet I would select one of the sweeter Smart Meals, or I would have a drink of diet soda, which is allowed in moderation. Obviously, water is preferable though.
When it got to the five day mark I couldn’t believe how easily I had taken to the challenge. I also couldn’t believe that I had lost 4lbs. That’s right folks; I lost 4lbs in five days! Not only had I lost weight but I felt lighter, more positive and most importantly for me, I was proud of myself.
Total weight loss at this stage: 4lbs
Days 6 – 14
By this point, I was really getting into the swing of the challenge. I had more energy and I was sleeping better. I didn’t want or need sugar as much and honestly, it was going brilliantly. Well, it was until I had a little blip…
I took Molly out for lunch one afternoon and ordered some chicken nuggets for myself too. I was really disappointed with myself but you know what the worst thing was, I didn’t enjoy the chicken nuggets. At all! They made me feel sick. I decided to move on and to not to dwell on it and I made sure I was really good with food for the next couple of days.
Total weight loss at this stage: 7lbs / half a stone!
Days 15 – 28
During this stage I was eating healthier meals all the time, eating smaller portion sizes and I had drastically reduced my sugar intake. I was feeling really good, both physically and mentally, with the changes my body was going through.
I have said earlier on in this post that some of the Smart Meal flavours are really delicious. My partner, Chris, had been listening to me mention how nice they were for days and he eventually asked if he could try a meal for himself. I let him pick one out. He picked the chocolate flavour and warmed it up, drinking it as a hot chocolate. He said he really enjoyed it and that it was nicer than some of the well-known hot chocolates he’s had before.
By this stage in the challenge, my clothes were starting to feel looser. I haven’t bought any new clothes yet but I did try a coat on in my usual size the other day and it was way too big. I tried the next size down and even that was a little too big too. That really filled me with confidence and motivates me to continue on this healthy eating journey.
My total weight loss for the challenge is 12lbs!
So Shape: My Final Review
- I didn’t feel like I was on a diet with So Shape. The shakes were delicious and sweet enough that they kept cravings at bay.
- I liked the soups but I wasn’t too keen on the hot meals if I am honest.
- I really enjoyed the vanilla and white chocolate flavour as well as the chocolate flavour, which could be enjoyed either hot or cold.
- The Mint Chocolate Chip frape was my absolute favourite flavour.
- As the meals come in individual packages they are easy to take to work or wherever with you. For instance, if I know I am going out I would take my So Shape shaker, one of the shake meals and a bottle of water. I could then easily make up the meal on the spot. The hot meals and soups only take a few minutes in the microwave to warm up so could easily be taken to work if there was access to a microwave.
- I lost weight but it didn’t ever feel like a struggle. I didn’t really feel hungry but if I did start to want something and it wasn’t time for a Smart Meal, I would have a snack from the open foods list. One of my favourite snacks to have was peppers stuffed with tuna and salad.
- I feel better within myself. Over all, I am more positive, I feel healthier and I have lost weight. I am excited to continue on my weight loss and healthier living journey.
Does So Shape work?
Yes! And I would definitely recommend giving it a go. For me, So Shape is absolutely fantastic. I’m so glad they got in touch with me because I am absolutely amazed by the results. I really can’t believe that I have lost almost a stone in 28 days. I’m so proud of myself for sticking with the challenge.
