If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know we have just celebrated Molly’s Third Birthday.
Okay okay okay, I know I have written quite a lot of posts about it, including this letter for her, but she’s THREE!! When did my baby turn into a little girl? I promise this will be the last post I write about her birthday though…
Anyway, for a long while we were unsure as to what we would buy her for a gift and how to celebrate the big day. In the end I think it all worked out perfectly, especially as Chris had the week off work. This is how we celebrated…
The day before Molly’s birthday we went to Gulliver’s World. Weather wise we couldn’t have picked a worse day. It rained, heavily, all day! We didn’t let a bit of rain spoil our fun though, we bought some rain macs and got on with it. We were a little bit annoyed to find that there only seemed to be one food place open in the entire park. They should tell you that when you go in so you can plan around it. Maybe next time we will take food with us. Some of the rides weren’t running either, but that could have been weather related.
We still managed to go on at least ten rides with the girls though. Their favourite was the pirate ship. And mine too! I think the caterpillar rollercoaster was probably a joint favourite for Molly. She is such a dare devil and always wants to sit at the front on rides like this. There are loads of play areas all around the park which I thought was a really good idea. There also seemed to be a lot of outdoor eating areas. We will definitely be returning in nicer weather so we can make the most of it.
On the way home from Gulliver’s world we stopped off at McDonalds for our tea. I have to admit, this was the highlight of the day for me because we discovered Chris looks exactly like Gru from Despicable me! The resemblance is uncanny! What do you think?
Molly was so excited on the morning of her birthday. She rushed to the living room as soon as she woke so she could open her presents.
We bought Molly a trampoline and a new bike as well as a few little toys. She didn’t really need any new toys but she is a kid and it was her birthday so we had to. That is my excuse any way. We also bought her a few things she needed and wrapped them up as gifts, such as new clothes and shoes!
She loves her presents, especially the trampoline. Though I do think the bike is going to take some getting used to…
After a lovely morning we then took Molly out for some lunch. She behaved impeccably, to our suprise. I’m always a bit worried about taking her out to eat in case she decides the restaurant is the ideal place for a mega tantrum. But, she behaved, and she even ate at least half of her food which is more than she seems to these days.
After lunch it was time for Molly to go to nursery. We did think about keeping her off for the day and going to Gulliver’s World on her actual birthday but thought it best if we kept her routine as normal as possible. The weather was a lot nicer on her birthday though so that would’ve been in our favour at Gulliver’s World.
We picked Molly up early from nursery as we had planned to have a little tea party with the family. She was suprised to find she had more presents from the family waiting for her. Her daddy had also (finally) built the trampoline – with the help of my sister and brother in law!
We had a couple of games of pass the parcel, had some buffet food and sang Happy Birthday to Molly. She had been waiting for her very own chocolate birthday cake since Chris’ birthday in April so we had to get her one.
Her and Jess were very hyper and as it was starting to get quite late we let them jump it out on the new trampoline before bedtime. It must have worked because Molly finally fell asleep on my knee. She hasn’t done that for a while and I doubt it will happen again. Excuse the awful selfie but I had to take one just in case I don’t have the experience again.
All in all I think she had a lovely birthday. I hope she did anyway. She was spoilt rotten but she completely deserves it.
