Let’s Pick Your Home Apart & Make It Better

Your home is going to be a place of solitude for you, or often not. Although it is an escape from the world for so many people, it’s also a time of absolute chaos for others. It all depends on who lives in your home, what they’re like, and basically if you have kids. If you have kids then you’re always going to come home to some form of chaos. Whether it be screaming kids running towards you, or whether it be a mess that needs cleaning up. If you’re yet to start family life, then your type of chaos to come home to would be the dishes that still need doing from the night before. But what we do know for sure, is no matter what home you’re coming home to, you’ll be thankful that you’re coming back to your own home. It’s a place to call your own, rather than coming back to the rules of someone else. But considering it’s the New Year, and everyone has been writing about their New Year’s resolutions, we want to talk about some resolutions you can make to change your home a bit. Other than the small changes that everyone makes, such as buying a new candle, you might be the type of person who doesn’t change their home much. So, we want to pick it apart with your today, and try to make it better. Keep on reading to find out more!

Getting The Garden Ready For Summer

We know that your garden is going to be a place that you will eventually spend some time in. even if now is not the time, why not thinking about some of the changes that you can make to make it perfect for the summer. If you don’t usually spend much time in the garden now matter what time of year it is, it might be that you just don’t have a garden that’s good enough to be in, so you’d rather spend your time in the beer garden. Well this year, that’s all going to change. The first thing you need is a space to socialise. You want a nice outdoor furniture set that you can put somewhere, that allows you to just sit back and relax with friends. If your garden is really small, then just a simple bench with a table would be nice. You don’t need much space, and if you can get cushions for the bench it’ll make it comfy. Actually having somewhere to sit is the first part of the equation. The next is making it better to look at, and you’re going to be able to do that in the spring. The soil is probably not going to be best at this time of year, but you can still buy seeds and soil fertiliser, and plan out where you’re going to plant everything. If you can just do those two things, you’ll have a garden worth sitting in in no time!

Luxurious Touches You Might Not Have

So going back into the home, there are definitely some luxurious touches that we know some people are missing out on. It’s your own home, you deserve to feel a sense of elegance and luxury, rather than just sitting on the sofa with a takeaway every weekend. So, the first option we’re going to give you is pricey, but we love it. If you already have a bath tub, then why not think about having it ripped out, and putting in a bigger and better version. Jacuzzi bathtubs are actually being found more in homes now, whereas they used to be found in the hotels and fancy B&B’s. But you can bring that luxury to your home, without even having to go to a hotel for the night. Yes, we know it’s in investment. But it’s a long term investment that might not make you any money back, but it will definitely help you to feel relaxed in your home. If that is a little out of your price range, then you could go for embroidered bathrobes and perhaps some slippers to match. It’s a nice little touch that we know many people don’t have. Usually when getting out of the shower you’ll run around in your towel, feeling the cold of the air in your home, trying to dry off quick enough to not get the floor wet. However, why not leave feeling comforted and ready to relax in a bathrobe. You can take it off and change once you’ve done all your beauty and hair regimes, and it just hangs back up in the bathroom until next time!

Upcycling An Item or Two

Upcycling is becoming a lost art, although we’re not sure that it ever was founded as one. Upcycling used to be used more because people couldn’t afford to keep buying new items of furniture all of the time, so they’d make the ones that they had better. We think it’s something you could try in your own home right now. No doubt there’s one item that has paint coming off it, and it just doesn’t look as good as it did when you first got it. We’re talking about items like a bed frame, coffee tables, anything like that that’s easy to get ruined, and might have done already. All you’d need to do is watch a Youtube tutorial and we know you’d find one that would be useful for an item that you want to upcycle.

Is It Time To Redecorate?

Now for the one that nobody really likes to do, and is a task that’s often avoided until a later date. But redecorating really does help to give your home a new lease of life. We’d advise that you be a little more adventurous and add a little splash of colour to your rooms, rather than going for the same neutral colours that you always do. This year the current trend is for the colour blue, which we thin you could make work well in pretty much every single room.
